Best Western International
Hotels
The hotel chain "Best Western International" was founded in 1946 by MK Guertin, a hotelier with 23 years of experience. In that time, merely known as Best Western Motels, the idea was originally to take a group of motels and around them, promote a common system of communication and referral. One motel would refer another along down the road, and Guertin would help them establish communications.
Within two years of its estabilishment, Best Western Motels had so many affiliate hotels, road side inns and motels, that it was possible to publish a catalogue for their main customers. Oil companies. The wells and fields that ran across the United States made traveling essential to these businessmen of the day.
By the year 1980, that had all changed. So many businessmen and women using the Best Western network, from so many different markets, forced BW to occupy both sides of the country, parts of Canada and Mexico.
Best Western was so large, that the US couldn’t hold them any longer, and the number of contracts around the world had achieved an average of 20 motels per country they affiliated with, some of them actually "castles!"
What makes Best Western International strong?
Ten years later in the beginning of the 1990’s, Best Western was already known as Best Western International and had dropped the word Motel for more than a decade. They weren’t even a motel business by the 90’s, they now offered so much quality and efficiency, that they were more of a budget watching hotel chain.
The new hype became the internet in 1995 and their circuit was so well developed that they could provide a network of services that were bargain priced for almost any business traveler around the entire globe. The internet opened that market even more.
