Hilton Hotel Chain

In the year 1919 in the city of Cisco, Texas, Conrad Hilton bought the first hotel of what would become one of the largest and most prestigious hotel-chains in the world. By the year 2000 the Hilton hotel-chain had over 500 hotels the world over.

Conrad Hilton’s story can be read in his wonderful and still very entertainingly delightful autobiography “Be My Guest” published in 1957. The Conrad Hilton Foundation is a philanthropic organization that was established and continues to thrive due to the world wide revenues of the Hilton hotel-chain.

In his last will and testament, Conrad Hilton’s life work was summed into a beautiful statement: “Love one another, for that is the whole law; so our fellow men deserve to be loved and encouraged — never to be abandoned to wander alone in poverty and darkness. The practice of charity will bind us — will bind all men in one great brotherhood.”
