Munich is the capital of the bundesland Bavaria in southern Germany. Being Europe’s largest city park, the English Garden is a great place for relaxation, leisure activities and enjoying a typical beer in one of its famous beer gardens. Especially during summertime the park is a favorite spot to go to, while the park takes a central role as well in the annual Oktoberfesten, Munich’s world-famous event that takes place every year in the last two weeks of September.

The district around Königsplatz is known for its many interesting museums, while the Residenz and the Schloss Nymphenburg Palaces add to the richdom of Munichs cultural heritage and acquisitions. If you arrive in Munich on the Franz-Josef Straus Munich International Airport, trains will take you directly to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) in 45 minutes. Alternatives are the airport buses, while some hotels provide airport shuttles as well. Most hotels are located in or close to the historical downtown and the Central Station.
