Hotel Reservations in Venice
The enchanted city of Venice, world famous for its duality between water and land, is a true pearl on Italy’s Adriatic Coast with a broad cultural and historical heritage in a maze of canals and alleys. Equivalent for romance, the city astonishes not only by its churches, houses, quaint bridges and canals but the atmosphere when strolling to the historic old part of town will make every visitor feel like an instant opera singer.
Venice’ historical centre is divided in six quarters (sestieri) and the main “street” is the Grand Canal which passes through each one of them. Start your city tour with a visit to the San Marco Square and the Doges Palace. From there you can stroll through (and get lost in!) the many backstreets, deserted squares and picturesque alleys. Make sure you explore the Venice outside the historical centre as well, with the islands of Murano, Buyrano and Torcello as well as the Lido as the main places worth a visit.
Besides walking, the Vaporetto (waterbus) is an essential method of getting around in Venice. Besides the necessity due to lack of other means of public transportation, the Vaporetto will give you an interesting view on the many mysteries and wonders of this city.
The Marco Polo Airport (12km/7.5mi outside Venice) is linked to Piazzala Roma in the city center by bus-services. An alternative is by boat using the Alilaguna hydrofoil or the (more expensive) water taxis. As it is easy to get lost in Venice, we advise you upon arrival in the city to use a water-taxi to get to your
hotel. Direct trains to Venice go to the di Santa Lucia station which is located near the historical centre. Cars are not allowed in the historical part of Venice and upon crossing the entrance brigde to Venice, you are obliged to leave your car at one of the (expensive) car parks indicated.
Choose one of almost 70 hotels in the historical centre of Venice. Most hotels have a personal style and history and some date back as far as the 12th century! Each one is a pearl of Venice on its own. Check out database for detailed descriptions of the hotels before you reserve your hotel.
