About Luxembourg
Strategically located in the midst of Europe, between Germany, France and Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe. With its variety of characteristic fairy-tale landscapes, with charming railroad tracks crossing numerous picturesque valleys, rivers and rural villages, Luxembourg is a true delight for those passionate for hiking, biking and other outdoor activities.
The country is roughly divided in two parts. The Ösling province in the north is part of the Ardennes region, characterized by its forests and rock formations. The southern part of Luxemburg is called Gultand or Luxembourg. Dominated by green hills, charming villages and the capital city of Luxembourg, this province provides most of the cultural and historical sights.
Luxembourg has its own language; a complex combination of Germanic and Latin language roots that you will most probably not understand a single word of! But don’t worry, French and German are official languages here as well and a with a substantial part of the well-educated population of Luxembourg you can communicate in English as well.
The city of Luxembourg houses most cultural and historical attractions, although the nearby towns Echternach and Esch are also definitely worth a visit.
