About the Place de la Concorde
Shoppers, sightseers, or just anyone trying to get onto the other side of downtown Paris, will frequently visit Place de la Concorde during the day, awash in the bright sun and renewed streets of lovely Paris life.
As one begins their quest through the great Axe Historique of Paris, Place de la Concorde is the first square before Champs Elysées. Hotels in this part of town are the luckiest of them all, as they have perfect access to all the major locations in the downtown quarter on foot.
This beautifully enchanting square in history however, was not always so peaceful. Those who are avid on history and place great value on the 18th Century will understand Place de la Concorde as its dark past encompasses the most decisive moments in the French Revolution. Once known as “Revolution Square” of the subsequent “Reign of Terror” that besieged the country in the 1790’s.
It is now named “Concorde” in honor of peace restored to Paris.
