The city of Washington was set up with symbolism. Centrally in the heart of the city the Capitol is located, the political center of the U.S.A. From the Capitol, the city is divided in four parts, following the four compass directions from Capitol Hill.
In westward direction, directly in front of the Capitol, the famous Mall is situated. Around the Mall you will find most of Washington’s interesting sites and attractions, like the Memorials, the Washington Monument, the presidential White House and the Smithsonian museums.
